This teaser is from the part where the girls´ grandfather is supposed to teach them from the bible, he has been admonished by his daughter-in-law not to let them grow up only on his pagan tales:
“`And so lasses, there stands Jesus on the mount, all the world below Him, Lucifer leering at His side,´ says Oupa theatrically. `” All this could be yours forever, if you´ll just kneel down and worship me” he tries to tempt Jesus once more.
`But Jesus- though He be weak and hungry from his forty days and forty nights in the desert- rises up,´ and Oupa´s voice is quivering now, `And He says unto the Prince of Darkness, “Never, Satan! Never! Now get thee hence!” And then He punches the Devil right in the guts and hurls him off the mountain, and the Devil is smashed to a bloody pulp on the rocks below.´”

Teaser Tuesday is hosted by Should Be Reading and this is how it works:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
You’re always introducing me to books I’ve never heard before :). This one sounds interesting. I quite like the cover.
That´s so nice of you to say, thanks! 🙂 Learning about new to us books is so great about blogging.
This one´s really great, I can really recommend it so far. It´s kind of a I Capture the Castle story but set in what used to be Rhodesia and with darker undertones.
Oh this sounds like a fascinating book. Love the grandfather just by the teaser.
Can’t say I have ever had peanut butter and jam!
